Registration is under way for many programs offered by the New Milford Parks & Recreation Department.

Dog waste

Dog owners who visit the Village Green or other town parks are reminded to pick up after their pets. Dog waste is unsightly and can spread disease. Owners should carry plastic bags to clean up after pets.

FAMILY

Dog obedience

Classes are offered for beginner and real life Thursdays from 6 to 7 p.m. or 7 to 8 p.m. from Jan. 10 to Feb. 14 at the Lillis Administration Building gym along East Street. Cost will be $70.

Ice skating

Registration for Learn to Skate classes for those aged 3 to adult is under way for Saturday sessions meeting Jan. 5 to Feb. 23 at Canterbury School's Draddy Arena. Cost will be $105.

YOUTH

Santa calling!

Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and elves will be calling New Milford homes Dec. 17 and 18 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. For those families who want to receive a call, form letters are available at the Parks & Recreation office, online at www.newmilford.org or by calling 860-355-605 to request a fax or email. Requests must be received by Dec. 7.

Tikes basketball

Sessions for grades K-2 will meet Saturdays from Jan. 5 to Feb. 23 at the Northville School gym. at the cost of $75, including a T-shirt.

ADULT

Hip hop/Jazz!

Aspiring dancers learn the fundamentals with age-appropriate movement and music in classes meeting Wednesdays from Jan. 9 to Feb. 27 supervised by Lindsey Burk. Those aged 4-6 will meet from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. and those aged 7-9 will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. at the New Milford Parks & Recreation office. Cost will be $65.

Fencing

Classes for beginners and advanced beginners meet Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. from Jan. 9 to Feb. 13 at the Parks & Recreation office at the cost of $80. Equipment will be supplied.

Men's 30

& older basketball

A league is being formed to play Monday and Wednesday games from 6:30 to 10:15 from December through March at Sarah Noble School. The number of teams will depend on the number of players. For information, email Jason Maxwell at jamaxwell@hotmail.com.

Zumba

Debi Fitzgerald instructs Latin-inspired dance fitness in sessions meeting Tuesdays and Thursdays through Jan. 31 at the recreation office at 47 Bridge Street. Cost is $65.
