Registration is under way for many programs offered by the New Milford Parks & Recreation Department.

Dog owners who visit the Village Green or other town parks are reminded to pick up after their pets. Dog waste is unsightly and can spread disease. Owners should carry plastic bags to clean up after pets.
Registration is under way for summer camp for youths in kindergarten to grade 8. Sessions will be offered weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. from June 25 to Aug. 3 at various schools in town. Cost is $320 for a family's first child, $265 for a second child and $195 for a third child. The cost of trips to Lynn Deming Park is included but cost of additional trips is not.
Lynn Deming Park
The town park on Candlewood Lake is open for the season. Residents/taxpayers may purchase a vehicle pass for $45 with proof of residency or paid tax bills from the town. Boat launch stickers are $115. Stickers are required for every boat/jet ski, with proof of residency or paid tax bill. Day passes are $5 for residents and $20 for non-residents per person, per day. Day passes can only be purchased at the New Milford Parks & Recreation office at 47 Bridge St. Mondays to Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. No day passes are sold at the gate and walk-ins are not admitted. A limited number of boat slips are still available.
Aspiring dancers learn the fundamentals of hip hop/jazz with age-appropriate movement and music.
Those aged 5-6 will meet from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and those aged 7-8 will meet from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. from July 5 to Aug. 16 at the New Milford Parks & Recreation office. Cost will be $45.
Summer swim team
Youths aged 6-16 may participate June 25 to Aug. 2 in Parks & Recreation's summer team program. Practices meet Mondays to Thursdays from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the Canterbury School aquatic center. Cost will be $190.
Hot Shot Hoop
Sessions will meet July 23-27 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Sarah Noble School for youths aged 7-13 at the cost of $150.
Sessions for children aged 6-14 will meet July 9-13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Schaghticoke Middle School at the cost of $169. Signup is available at the Parks & Rec office or at www.usportsinstitute.com.
Sports Squirts camp
Sessions will meet July 16-20 for children aged 3-4 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the cost of $69 and for children aged 4-5 from 10:15 to 11:45 a.m. at the cost of $99 at Young's Field. Signup is available at the Parks & Recreation office or at www.ussportsinstitute.com.
Lessons will be given Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from June 25 to July 12 for 3 years of age and older at Lynn Deming Park at the cost of $50 and for 5 years of age and older at the New Milford Sports Club for $80. Another session will be offered July 16-20.
Registration for the 2012 season at Lynn Deming Park is open until all slips are sold at New Milford Parks & Recreation at 47 Bridge St. Cost is $1,200. Applicants must be New Milford taxpayers.
