NEW MILFORD - The New Milford High School boys indoor track team came oh so close to winning the SWC title at Friday evening’s SWC Championship meet at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

Immaculate and Weston tied for the title with 72 points. New Milford finished two points back at 70 with Barlow (55) fourth and Newtown (54) rounding out the top five.

“It was a heartbreaker for us missing a share of the title by two points,” New Milford coach Ryan Rebstock said. “Definitely my most difficult moment as a coach.”

New Milford had a pair of titleists in Charlie Osborne and Herlandt Lino. Osborne won a thrilling 600 and Lino redeemed himself after getting nicked at the line in the 1600 by winning the 3200.

“The guys fought hard and our balance kept us in the hunt until the final event,” Rebstock said. “We knew Weston and Immaculate would be tough to beat. Credit to those coaches and their teams.”
