Students and faculty at New Milford High School are nearing final preparations for their all-school musical production of the Broadway musical hit, "Carousel."

The show features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics and book by Oscar Hammerstein II, and dances by Agnes DeMille.

The original 1945 production was based on the play, "Liliom," by Ferenc Molnar.

The story focuses on the unlikely relationship between Julie, a 19th-century New England millworker and Billy Bigelow, an unsavory carnival barker.

Among the well-known songs from the show are "If I Loved You," "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Evening performances at 7 p.m. will be presented March 15, 16, 22 and 23.

Matinee performances will be given March 17 at 3 p.m. and March 23 at 2 p.m.

All seating will be reserved at $10.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting the NMHS box office Mondays to Fridays from 2:15 to 4 p.m. or Mondays to Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., or by calling 860-350-6647 ext. 1552.
