Motorcyclist dies after crash with bus

A 25-year-old New Milford man was killed Monday, Sept. 24 when the motorcycle he was riding collided head-on with a school bus on Pickett District Road, police said.

Travis Lipton of Aspetuck Ridge Road was pronounced dead at New Milford Hospital soon after the 2:57 p.m. accident, New Milford police Sgt. Brian Glasser said.

No students were on the bus and the bus driver, Alicia Gardos, 49, of Mine Hill Road, was not injured.

Sgt. Glasser said the motorcycle had been westbound on Pickett District Road when it collided with the school bus, which was eastbound and turning left into a parking lot across from John Pettibone School.

The road remained closed for several hours after the crash, reopening about 7 p.m.
