Shepaug Valley School in Washington will play host to “Minds in Motion” on Feb. 27.
The event, co-presented by Region 12 and the Connecticut Association for the Gifted, is open to children in kindergarten through eighth grade, their parents and educators.
Children will choose from more than 15 workshops, including “Introducing the Rigamajig” by KidsPlay Museum in Torrington, “Program Your Own Robot” by Operation PEACCE Robotics in Bristol, “Capoiera, a Jovial Brazilian Martial Art” by Thrive Movement Studio in Harwinton, “The Wacky World of Waffles” by The Silo Cooking School in New Milford, and more.
The program is designed to enrich and encourage curious students.
Adult workshops will also be offered at no additional cost.
The programs will provide strategies to enhance learning, promote creativity and resilience, and help raise asset-strong youth.
The keynote speaker will be Michael Moschen, a MacArthur Genius Award recipient and world-renowned visionary performing artist brought to Minds in Motion by the After School Arts Program, which serves Northwestern Connecticut.
Moschen will discuss how to help children be the creative artists of their own learning.
A complete description of workshops and registration can be found at www.ctgifted.org.
The cost is $15 per child.
Financial aid is available upon request.
Registration is required by Feb. 19.
