A new book club will next meet March 23 at the New Milford Public Library.
The group will meet the fourth Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The group, which will focus on military history, will be led by Gerard Monaghan, a retired Army lieutenant colonel.
The club will explore topics of interest to members — ranging from ancient history through the current conflicts, both fiction and non-fiction.
“There is such a wide range of topics, I plan to let the members provide the direction,” Monaghan said.
“We will consider topics from the Romans to Raqqa,” he said.
Monaghan, who commanded a military history detachment in Vietnam, also has worked with the Army’s Center for Military History on several projects, including the history of the National Training Center at Fort Irwin, Calif., and co-authored a book on the history of Army public affairs.
