A 3,860-square-foot medical office has been approved for construction at the Cross Road and Danbury Road (Route 7 South) intersection in New Milford.
The building was given the go-ahead Feb. 8 by the New Milford Zoning Commission and is anticipated to be in place by July.
It would sit at 487 Danbury Road, across from the former Mark Ford building in which the Agriventure Agway garden center is now located.
Dr. Marshall D. Kurtz, a local oral surgeon, plans to relocate his office at 15 Executive Center in New Milford to the Cross Road site. An existing house on the property will be maintained as a rental with eventual plans to demolish it when a second phase of development of the site is undertaken.
That phase would be construction of a large retail center to the front of the parcel.
However, as phase two of development requires connection to the sewer system, it will have to wait until the town extends the sewer line and installs a pump station near the site, said Russ Posthauer, the engineer representing Dr. Kurtz' limited partnership, BHRC Real Estate LLC,
Mr. Posthauer estimated that could be more than two years in the future.
