Nancy McGavic has successfully completed requirements to become a certified Connecticut municipal collector (CCMC).

McGavic has been employed by the town of New Milford since 1998, first working in the town clerk’s office, where she became a certified town clerk in 2003.

For the past 10 years, she has worked in the tax collector’s office. She has been endorsed by the New Milford Republican Town Committee as its tax collector candidate in the November municipal election.

CCMC requires completion of a four-course program, including tax collection administration and law; municipal finance and law; and a course in local and state government, supervision and public relations.

Upon successfully completing all course exams, a candidate must pass comprehensive final state examination. All CCMC candidates must also have a minimum of three years’ tax office experience to become certified.
