Margaret P. Addicks, 88, of Washington, widow of Walter B. Addicks, died Dec. 13, 2010, at New Milford Hospital surrounded by her sons.

Mrs. Addicks was born in 1922 in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., daughter of the late Eleanor Deuel and Alan Pearce.

She attended Vassar College and Cornell University.

Mrs. Addicks settled in Washington in 1949 and worked for more than 45 years at The Gunnery School, first as a secretary and then as a teacher.

She was active with the Washington Cemetery Association from 1955 until the present.

Mrs. Addicks was a member of the Republican Town Committee, the Washington Garden Club, the Village Improvement Society, the Zoning Board of Appeals and other civic organizations.

She leaves a brother, Richard Pearce, of East Greenbush, N.Y.; and two sons, Walter Addicks, of Slingerlands, N.Y., and Thomas Addicks, of Longmeadow, Mass. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter B. Addicks, and a daughter, Nancy Addicks.

A funeral service and Requiem Mass will take place Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Washington.

The Lillis Funeral Home of New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
