The Roger Sherman Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution and the Charles Merriman Society of Children of the American Revolution will hold a Christmas buffet luncheon and special programs Dec. 2 in New Milford.
The luncheon will run from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Candlewood Valley Country Club at 401 Danbury Road (Route 7 South).
The event will include Christmas in a box at 11:30 a.m. at which time members will assemble gift boxes of goodies for the Fisher House, and a joint business meeting at noon, featuring the presentation of the DAR Good Citizen Award winner and membership certificates, and the welcoming of new members.
In addition, Tom Hooker Hanford and Nancy Finlay will present two shows of "Fill Every Glass," tavern songs of the 17th and 18th centuries, and "In the Good Old Colony Days," a show of riddles and nursery rhymes.
The program is ideal for children age 6 and older.
During the meeting, several people will receive certificates: Jeanette Barrows, Esther Devine, Susan Kustosz, Heather Morsey and Kari Stewart (10 years), Jolene Mullen (20 years), Roberta Bateman (40 years) and Marian Brown (60 years).
In addition, new members will be welcomed: Linda Brown (ancestor, Jeremiah Chapman), Christine Bruckner (ancestor, Oliver Walton), Alyssa Buckbee (ancestor, Hugh Alexander), Kara Gabriel (ancestor, Iddo Scribner), Robyn Hughes (ancestor, Turney Bulkley), Brienne Lesile (ancestor, George Marsteller Sr.), Stephanie Moots (ancestor, Baltser Steck), Lisa North (ancestor, Nathan Blodgett) and Eleanor Sloane (ancestor, Henry Haynes).
Members and guests are asked to donate something warm -- mittens, gloves, hats, scarves or a gently used coat -- to be donated to children in need.
Tickets are $20 and free for CAR members.
