The New Milford Public Library on Main Street in New Milford will offer several programs in the coming weeks.

New Milford Public Library will offer several programs in the coming days.

A program with Bruce Roff, senior associate of SOPHIA Natural Health Center, will be held June 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Roff will share simple exercises, such as QiGong, that can be used daily to improve one’s mental and physical health.

QiGong is an over 5,000 year old Chinese health method that combines slow, graceful movements with mental concentration and breathing.

The standing postures and breathing exercises improve circulation, reduce stress, cultivate and balance chi or “life energy,” and enhance the immune system.

Attendees are asked to wear loose-fitting clothing as this is a participatory seminar.

Registration is required.

A gaming collaboration will be held June 15, July 13 and Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. at the library and May 25, June 29 and July 27 at 6 p.m. at Burnham Library on Main Street in Bridgewater.

Older teens and adults are invited to play board games that include a variety of strategy games.

Local historian Chris Fisher will meet with patrons Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon, or by appointment, to record the patron’s history and recollections of New Milford.

The stories will be transcribed and preserved in physical format and digital archives.

For more information and RSVP to either program, call the Main Street library at 860-355-1191.
