New Milford Public Library has announced its upcoming events.

Master Gardener Amy Ziffer will present a program, “Shade Revealed: How to Have Success in Low Light,” Aug. 16 at 6:30 p.m.

Her specialty is gardening in the Northeast.

The library and Pratt Nature Center will co-sponsor a solar eclipse viewing party Aug. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m.

The eclipse will be the first time in 99 years that the event will be visible to people from coast to coast.

New Milford’s viewing will be approximately 68 percent. Eclipse glasses may be picked up at the circulation desk at the library or at the event.

The party will kick off with a showing of John J. McCarthy Observatory’s movie, “Just 400 Years Ago.”
