Forty-six teams of boys and girls aged 12 and younger, likely about 500 youths in all, are playing baseball and softball this spring as the 2013 New Milford Youth Baseball/Softball season is in full swing.

The National Football League might be adult sports fans' favorite TV pastime, but the good old diamond sport still has plenty of support as an activity for kids.

Games began last week and the program hosted its official opening day, complete with ceremony, team pictures and such, on Saturday at the Garick New Milford Farms field complex along Boardman Road (see photos).
