The Kent Pumpkin Run will host its 35th edition Oct. 30.

The Kent Chamber of Commerce event is anticipating more growth this autumn after more than doubling in size in 2010 to 595 finishers.

Race organizers have formed a partnership with Kent Memorial Library to promote the organization's annual car raffle.

The raffle's grand prize, a 2000 Porsche Boxster, has been designated as the event's official pace car and will lead participants along the scenic, five-mile course through and around the village of Kent.

In addition to prize money, the top male and female runners will be awarded complimentary entries in the raffle, courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce.

The drawing for the car will take place in conjunction with the race's awards ceremony at Kent Green.

Raffle tickets are available at Kent Memorial Library for $20. The car is on display outside the library.

Proceeds will benefit the library's annual operating budget.

Awards will be given to the top three race finishers in age-group categories. Prize money of $200, $100 and $50 will be given to the top three overall finishers. An extra $200 would be given to the first finisher who breaks the course record.

Race-day donations of non-perishable foods will be accepted on behalf of the Kent Food Bank.

Major sponsors include Union Savings Bank, Winters Bros. Waste Systems and Davis IGA.

The Kids Run will precede the Pumpkin run with an 11:15 start at Town Hall.
