The New Milford Renegades' 11-year-old youth baseball team was within a victory of winning the Cal Ripken New England championship yesterday (Thursday).

A win last night at Garick Farm Field over either Exeter, N.H. or Danbury, the survivor of Wednesday's scheduled elimination semifinal contest, would have clinched it for manager Joe Vaughey's potent diamond crew.

If the Exeter/Danbury winner beat the Renegades last night, a final game would be played this evening (Friday) at 5 p.m.

To reach its winners' bracket position this week, the Renegades outplayed Milford, N.H., 15-2; Danbury, 16-6; and Exeter, 7-0, Tuesday.

The New England tournament run comes on the heels of title success in last week's Cal Ripken state tournament in Danbury.
