The New Milford Historical Society & Museum will offer “Look at Artists, A Children’s Art History Course,” for children in first through fourth grades beginning Sept. 24.
The course, designed to improve and increase visual literacy for children, will meet Thursdays from 4 to 5 p.m. Sept. 24 through Oct. 15.
Kathy Elmore, MLS, with over 20 years’ experience as a children’ librarian in Connecticut public libraries, will lead the course.
Students will learn about a different artist during each week by reading a story about that artist, then creating a project in his/her style.
Artists to be explored include VanGogh, Picasso/Matisse, Mary Cassatt and Andy Warhol.
The program will end with an art show and reception displaying the student’s artwork in the Boardman Gallery of the museum.
A reception for the art show will be held Oct. 22 at 4 p.m.
The cost is $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
For more information and RSVP, call the 6 Aspetuck Ave. museum at 860-354-3069 or email email@example.com.
