The Kent Memorial Library and the Kent Conservation Commission are making available to library cardholders a Kill-A-Watt device, whereby interested borrowers can calculate and measure how much phantom energy is being used at their home.

Many electrical devices in homes suck up energy while plugged into sockets, but not in use or turned on.

Once one has discovered which electrical appliances are accruing kilowatt hours, a consumer can make intelligent decisions on how to curtail this wasted energy.

The Kill-A-Watt device may be checked out of the library with a library card for one week.
