To the Editor

On Nov. 5, Kent Affordable Housing held its daytime pie sale and evening dinners, our “Night of 1,000 Pies.”

All events were a rousing success due to the kindness of our community that baked, bought and dined in support of Affordable Housing in Kent.

We are so grateful to our dinner hosts: Salome and Chris Henderson, Jee Mee Kim and Peter Diaz, Jeanne Perez and Ernie Foster, Jackie and Allan Priaulx, Kate and James Vick, and Peter Vaughn and Hiram Williams. You opened your homes and set your tables with good will and good food.

Special thanks to our corporate underwriters, Union Savings Bank and Webster Bank and to our local businesses including: Bulls Bridge Inn, JP Gifford Market and Restaurant, Kent Coffee and Chocolate, Kent Wine and Spirit, Kingsley Tavern, So Delicious Homemade Bakery and The Villager.

Also to Elin McCoy and John Frederick Walker, and to the students at Marvelwood School and South Kent School who rolled up their sleeves and baked so many delicious pies and other treats.

We were blessed with many wonderful baked donations from so many people.

Thank you to my fellow board members for their hard work and support, and to the committee and volunteers Karen Bussolini and Virginia Cipolla for their cheerful assistance at the pie event.

Finally, a thank you to the Rev. Roger White and Bill MacLaren of St. Andrew’s for the use of the parish hall.

As we enter this season of thanksgiving, Kent Affordable Housing sincerely appreciates all who helped make the 11th “Night of 1,000 Pies” a memorable event!
