The Kent Singers will present a concert, “An American Soundscape,” March 19 at 5 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Milford.

The two centerpieces of the program will be Aaron Copland’s “Old American Songs,” a collection of musical vignettes from America’s formative years, and John Corigliano’s “Fern Hill,” a portrait of Dylan Thomas’s musical poetry.

Also on the program will be shorter works by Stephen Paulus, Morten Lauridsen, Craig Hella Johnson, Mack Wilberg and others, stitching together a broader narrative of poets’ and composers’ experiences of American landscape and life.

The concert will be conducted by Knox Sutterfield, with soloist mezzo-soprano Luthien Brackett, and will be accompanied by chamber orchestra.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door, with children under 12 admitted free.
