Kent Park and Recreation notes

The Kent Park and Recreation Department is offering a variety of programs.
Office hours on the second floor at town hall are Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon. and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Program registration forms are available outside the office weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Under the direction of Debra Van Keuren of Warren, the program is available for sessions for Center School students in grades K-6 to meet school days from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Ms. Van Keuren is also an assistant teacher at Kent Community Nursery School. Preregistered participants for after school may attend on a full or part-time basis at the cost of $11 per day including snack. The program will feature homework time, indoor and outdoor activities, games and sports. Registration is available at town hall, by calling the Park and Rec office at 860-927-1003, or by checking the website.
Kids' Fun Run
A pair of age-division races of half-mile and a mile will be offered Oct. 30 starting at 11:15 a.m. at Casey Field, adjacent to town hall, and preceding the annual Pumpkin Run. Youths aged 10 and under are eligible. Free pre-race signup is available at www.lentctparkandrecreation.com. Registration will also be available prior to the event at Kent Green.
Ballet and jazz dance classes for youths aged 4 to sixth grade and jazz and tap for adults are offered at the Community House. Preregistration is required.
A luncheon program for residents aged 60 and older is offered Fridays at noon at the Senior Center along Swifts Lane, with meals provided by The Kent. A $2 donation is suggested for lunch. For reservations, call 860-927-4627.
A free art program for senors will start Oct. 20 with sessions meeting Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the Senior Center along Swift Lane. Participants should bring their own supplies.
A flu vaccination clinic offered by the New Milford VNA, the Kent Nursing Association and the town will be offered Oct. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at town hall. Cost for those without coverage by Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, Medicare Part B Health Net or ConnectiCare will be $37, cash or check.
