The Kent Art Association has announced the winners of its recent shows and its current elected artists invitational and solo show.

For its recent members show, Awards of Excellence were presented to three artists working in oils, Dorothy Lorenze for “Light at Seven Hearths,” Kate Hall for “White Chrysanthemums” and Zufar Bkbov for “Sentinals of Winter.”

Keith Davidson received an award for his acrylic “Vinca” and Carol Moore earned an award for her pastel “G.W,Bridge.”

Awards of Excellence were presented to New Milford sculptor Patrick Purcell, who installed his large lawn sculpture “Rooster” on the front lawn, which will be on display through May.

For its spring juried show, which ran May 25, eight awards were presented.

Three Awards of Excellence of $100 each went to Betty Ann Wygant-Williams for her oil “Ballet of a Blizzard,” Kate Hall for her oil “Breaking Light” and Erin Nazzaro for her acrylic, “Pene/Sunday Dinner.”

The three KAA $100 awards for oil /acrylic, watercolor and pastel went to Zufar Bicbov for his oil “Flame of October,” Virginia Schaffer for her watercolor “Night Light” and Clayton Buchannan for his pastel “Almost Friends.”

The $100 Carolyn B. Fisher Award for Sculpture went to Bill Rice for his work “Mallard Feather,” carved out of basswood and painted with oil to create what is believably a feather.

The $500 Founders Award/Best in Show went to Julie Hopkins for her pastel “Taking Root.”

For the current show, which will run through July 12, the organization’s highest honor, and Elected Artist, was awarded to six artists: Judy Albright, Kathy Braun, Susan Coleman Galaskas, Bea Gustafson, Erin Nazzaro and Janet Reasoner.

Landscape artist Beverly Bourassais won the Award of Merit/Best in Show, which entitles her to a solo show for next year’s elected artists invitational and solo show.
