The Kent Art Association will open its spring juried show May 27 with a reception and awards ceremony from 2 to 4 p.m.

The show will run through June 18.

Works in any medium by members and nonmember artists will be accepted for the spring show May 19 from 3 to 5 p.m. and May 20 from 10 a.m. to noon.

A jury of selection will consider all artwork for exhibition; only works chosen by the jury will be exhibited.

After the jury selection, a panel of two judges, Nancy Warwick and Clayton Buchanan, will determine award winners in a number of categories.

Over $1,000 in awards will be presented.

The gallery’s most recent show, “Barbara Goodspeed: A Life in Art,” closed early after the show completely sold out, a week before its scheduled closing.

Over 80 works by the famed Sherman artist who died last December were sold both at a silent auction at the opening reception and during the time the show was open.

The KAA is the beneficiary of a portion of the sales.

On exhibit on the front lawn of the gallery are two elephants by Kent sculptor Denis Curtiss.

The 21 South Main St. gallery is open Thursdays through Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. and by appointment, as well as holiday Mondays from 1 to 5 p.m.
