Julia D. LaValla, 70, of New Milford, died March 13, 2010, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York. She was the widow of Michael LaValla,

She was born in the Bronx, N.Y., March 4, 1940, daughter of the late Phillip and Julia (Oller) Pereira.

Mrs. LaValla worked in the cafeteria for the Ridgefield public schools.

Mrs. LaValla is survived by two daughters, Debra Roper, and her husband, Kenneth, of Bethel, and Julie LaValla, of Brookfield; five grandchildren, Ken, Kristen, and Kelly Roper, and Shannon and Carly Mardin; two sisters, Myrna Trafford and Irene Cea-Lynch.

The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Danbury Animal Welfare Society, 147 Grassy Plain St., Bethel, CT 06801-2806.
