John Santorelli, 90, had worked for Metro North

John J. Santorelli, 90, a lifelong resident of Brewster, N.Y., died Nov. 25 at his home in Brewster.

He was born Oct. 18, 1922, in Brewster, N.Y., to the late Ralph and Levia (Mortola) Santorelli. He graduated from Brewster High School in 1942.

Mr. Santorelli served on the LST 327 in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. He received the Purple Heart.

Mr. Santorelli married Lena "Lee" Zerbato on Sept. 22, 1946, in Mahopac, N.Y.

He was a general foreman for Metro North Railroad in Brewster for 30 years before retiring in 1985.

Mr. Santorelli was a member of the VFW Post No. 672 in Brewster, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 137 in Peekskill, N.Y., and the National LST Association.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Santorelli is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard J. and Ronnie Santorelli, of Warren; three grandchildren, Rebecca, Matthew and Rachel; a brother, Joseph, of Sidney, N.Y.; a nephew, John Pelaccio; a niece, Linda Vivian; and numerous other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony and Ralph.

Interment took place at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery in Brewster.

The Beecher Funeral Home in Brewster was in charge of arrangements.
