The nonprofit Litchfield Performing Arts is presenting jazz concerts in Kent, leading up to the Litchfield Jazz Festival.

Kent concerts will be held Aug. 5-7 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Kent School, 1 Macedonia Road, Route 341, in Kent.

A freewill donation will support Litchfield Jazz Camp need-based scholarships.

In addition, jazz camp students will perform Aug. 6 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Fife 'n Drum, 53 North Main St.

Performers will include Litchfield Jazz Camp teaching artists trumpeters Dave Ballou and Claudio Roditi, bassists Mario Pavone, Avery Sharpe and Marcus McLaurine, pianists Onaje Allan Gumbs, Helen Sung and Orrin Evans, guitarists Paul Bollenback, Dave Stryker and Roni Ben-Hur, drummers Matt Wilson, Charli Persip and Alvin Atkinson, saxophonists Kris Allen, Claire Daly, Mike DiRubbo, Wayne Escoffery, Gary Smulyan, Jeff Lederer and Lauren Sevian, vocalists Kevin Mahogany and Nicole Zuraitis and more.

The Litchfield Jazz Festival will run Aug. 9-11 at the Goshen Fairgrounds on Route 63 in Goshen.

The lineup will feature the Tony Award winner Christine Ebersole with Aaron Weinstein's Trio, multiple Grammy Award winner Eddie Palmieri's Latin Jazz Band, artist-in-residence Gary Smulyan's Baritone Summit, the 2013 Downbeat Critics Poll Best Male Vocalist of the Year Gregory Porter, and others.

Other offerings will include a food festival, a wine and beer tasting, a fine arts and craft show, children's activities, artist talks, after-parties, jam sessions and more.

Festival tickets start at $30; children 12 and under are free on the lawn.
