James A. Faure, 75, of New Milford died Aug. 21, 2012, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Haven. He was the husband of Jeanette Ocif Faure.
He was born Feb. 5, 1937, in New Milford, son of the late Howard and Julia Tiberio Faure. He was educated in New Milford schools.
Mr. Faure joined the United States Navy in July 1954 and earned his GED while in the service. He actively served until November 1957. He was honorably discharged in July 1962 from the Naval Reserves.
He was employed as a plumber upon his service discharge, until he went to work as an oil driver for Home Oil Company in December 1960. He worked there until he retired as division manager in June 1995.
Mr. Faure was an active member of the New Milford Rotary Club from 1973 until his illness in February 2012. He served as president of the club during the 1978-79 year.
Since his retirement, he had volunteered as a driver for the American Red Cross and also delivered flowers part time for Lennie's Flower Shop.
His passion was playing golf and slot machines. He also enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mr. Faure is survived by three daughters, Leslie Mirkhani, Sharon Stephen and Elizabeth Faustino; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Howard, of Arizona, and Richard, of Florida; a sister, Julie, of Arizona; several nieces; and one nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held tomorrow (Saturday) at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church in New Milford. Burial will be private in St. Francis Cemetery in New Milford.
The Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford is in charge of arrangements.
