James W. Emmans Jr., 51, of New Milford, died at Danbury Hospital June 8 after a two-year courageous battle with cancer. He was the husband of Cherlyn (Bothner) Emmans.

He was born July 6, 1961, in Danbury, son of the late James Sr. and Jean (Hanley) Emmans.

He was known for his sense of humor, and was an avid sports fan, especially fond of the Mets, Rangers, Jets and Red Sox. He enjoyed gardening and loved listening to the music of John Denver.

In addition to his wife of 28 years, he is survived by a son, Justin Emmans, of New Milford; a brother, Leonard R. Emmans, and his wife, Anita, of Danbury; three nephews, Daniel, Tyler and Lucas; and a niece, Callie.

The Cornell Memorial Home in Danbury was in charge of the arrangements.
