The projects must promote environmental protection, energy efficiency and public safety. The fund was established in 2015 to provide opportunities to a broad group of organization through a thoughtful and competitive application process.
In its first year, the fund awarded more than $140,000 in grants to seven organizations, including the Candlewood Lake Authority, the Housatonic Valley Association, the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection, and the Connecticut State Environmental Conservation Police.
FirstLight will accept applications until April 1, 2016. Nonprofit and other community organizations located in the Housatonic River Project system are eligible to apply. Grant application are available at www.gdfsuezna.com/firstlight-power-resources/. Awards will be announced on May 1, 2016.
