Home Goods, a discount home furnishings store, has signed on as a second anchor store at the Litchfield Crossings shopping plaza at 169 Danbury Road (Route 7) in New Milford.
Home Goods officials recently signed the lease, Danbury Road Developers partner Paul Scalzo said Monday, Aug. 1.
"We're on a roll," said Mr. Scalzo, who signed Kohl's department store as a tenant in June. "We also signed Famous Footwear, another national tenant."
"We have very good traction right now," he added, "with several tenants in discussions."
Problems initially plagued the plaza's development, which was started during the 2008 economic downturn. Target expressed interest at that time about being the plaza's anchor store but changed its plans.
Home Goods stores, which average 27,000 square feet, provide home furnishings up to 60 percent off department store prices, according to the company's press site.
"This is very positive," said Vin Nolan, New Milford's economic development supervisor. "It shows they're continuing to gain steam. Every day you go by the site and you see work progressing. We're excited."
Kohl's, Home Goods and Famous Footwear will join three tenants already on site -- AT&T, Housatonic Internal Medicine & Pediatrics and Union Savings Bank.
