St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Kent will hold its next Music in the Nave offering Oct. 6 at 4 p.m.

The recital will feature Thomas Holcombe, Kent school organist-choirmaster emeritus, who will perform at Kent School's St. Joseph's Chapel on Route 341.

The event is part of the dedication for the organ at the school which is being named in Holcombe's honor.

The chapel's organ was installed in 1907 by Hook & Hastings of Boston and consisted of two manuals (keyboards) and 20 ranks (a rank is a set of pipes representing one note on the keyboard, the number of pipes can vary per note).

The organ has been upgraded twice, once by Jeremy Cooper, of Concord, N.H., and most recently in 1997 by Roy Redman, of Fort Worth, Texas.

It currently has three manuals, 50 ranks, 49 stops -- 58 notes -- with the pedal controlling an additional 30 notes.
