The Warren Historical Society recently announced that the theme for much of its 2016 programming would be education in Warren.

In keeping with this theme, and with its mission to celebrate and preserve Warren’s history, the WHS has established a new annual scholarship program.

Two students will each be awarded $1,000 with funds to be used toward their post-secondary education.

Eligible applicants must be, or have been, a resident of Warren, and attended the Warren School for at least two consecutive years.

A centerpiece of the application will be a paper or project focused on Warren’s history.

Students may develop their own projects, which must be approved by the board, or may meet with one or more board members to develop a suitable topic.

Other application requirements include a current official school transcript and one letter of recommendation from a current or prior teacher.

The application is due May 1, with the recipients to be announced in June.
