Hedy Jahn, 86, lived in New Milford

Hedy Anna Baumiester Jahn, 86, died Nov. 1, 2012.
Mrs. Jahn was born Oct. 30, 1926, in Frankenthal, Germany, daughter of the late Phillip and Anna Baumiesterm. Welcomed at Ellis Island, she moved to the United States in 1947 looking to start a life and family.
She worked as a seamstress in New York for a short time before she married her late husband, Henry Jahn, in 1949.
In 1954, she moved to New Milford, where she spent the rest of her life and made her house a loving home.
Mrs. Jahn was a cashier at the A&P and also held a part-time position at Canterbury School on weekends. She later worked for Nestle's for 14 years until her retirement.
She was dedicated to serving the New Milford community. She volunteered for many years at the New Milford Thrift Mart, which she loved, and served a 26-year membership with the Palm Rebekah Lodge No. 34.
Mrs. Jahn enjoyed her flower gardens and playing with her grandkids, Brian and Rachel Lynch, of Sherman; Melissa Jahn Stepehens, of Boston; and Laura Jahn of South Salem, N.Y.
In addition to her grandchildren, Mrs. Jahn is survived by three children, Dorothy Jahn Lynch, of Sherman, Walter Jahn, of New Milford, and Richard Jahn, of South Salem.
Private services were at Lillis Funeral Home in New Milford.
