Gunn Memorial Library on Wykeham Road in Washington has announced its upcoming programs.

They will include a program with Christopher Webber, author of "American to the Backbone: The Life of James W.C. Pennington, the Fugitive Slave Who Became One of the First Black Abolitionists," Aug. 4 at 6:30 p.m.; and "The Master Class," an informal talk and audio presentation about Maria Callas, considered to be one of the world's preeminent opera singers of the 20th century, Aug. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

Also, a social networking workshop with UConn's Torrington Library Director Sheila Lafferty will be held Aug. 25 at 6:30 p.m.

Patrons are invited to o bring their laptops and follow along with Ms. Lafferty's Internet presentation via our WiFi.
