Gunn Memorial to kick off summer reading

Gunn Memorial Library’s junior library will kick off its children’s summer reading program, “Every Hero Has a Story,” June 22 with registration.
Part of the program will include Tuesday family programs.
Offerings will include “Mad Science of Western New England” July 7 at 6:30 p.m., a superhero comics drawing workshop with Vincent Giarrano July 14 at 6:30 p.m., “Animal Heroes,” featuring a K-9 unit from the Connecticut State Troopers July 21 at 6:30 p.m. and a superhero pajama and pizza party movie night, featuring a screening of “Big Hero 6,” July 28 at 5:30 p.m.
In addition, the Litchfield County 4-H group will present “The Lorax Challenge” July 10 at 10 a. m. and “Honey Bees and Me” July 24 at 3:30 p.m.
In other news, “Healthyville,” an exhibit on loan from the Stepping Stones Museum in Norwalk, will be on display at the library July 21 through Aug. 11.
