Handgun safety programs sponsored by the National Rifle Association will be held July 15, 25 and 26 at 280 Kent Road in New Milford.
The one-day program will offer knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for using or owning a handgun. A national written examination and live-fire range qualification will be conducted.
Program completion is a requirement for application for a state permit in Connecticut and most other states.
The state of Utah concealed carry firearms permit course, as taught in Connecticut, enables the permit holder to carry a concealed firearm in more than 30 states.
The next scheduled classes, all four-hour, one-time courses, will be Aug. 18 and Sept. 12.
All documentation, including the FBI fingerprint card and instructor approved application, will be provided upon class completion.
