The Connecticut Audubon Society will offer an introductory guided birding walk along the well-maintained trails of the new Deer Pond Farm, an 835-acre sanctuary in Sherman, July 29 at 9 a.m.
The biologically diverse property, which straddles the state borders of Connecticut and New York, is an ecologically important land bequest to CAS from the estate of Kathryn D. Wriston.
Approximately half of the property is in Sherman and half is in Pawling, N.Y.
On the two-mile walks, Program Director Cathy Hagadorn will share information about the conservation area and the history of the family who made it happen.
The walk is free for Connecticut Audubon Society members and $5 for nonmembers.
The entrance to Deer Pond Farm is located at 57 Wakeman Hill Road.
