To the Editor:

Mother Nature ravaged the Roxbury Land Trust's newly built parking area on Botsford Hill Road last March.

The land trust rebuilt the parking lot, only to have Tropical Storm Irene wash it away again a few months later.

Faced by another expensive reconstruction, we were most gratified this month when Roxbury First Selectman Barbara Henry and her road crew responded to the sad state of the parking lot by trucking and spreading tons of fill.

This area provides access to one of the land trust's most popular walking trails -- the railroad bed along the Shepaug River -- on the Orzech Family Preserve.

Thank you, Roxbury.
