Gerald Fredlund, 76, had lived in New Milford

Gerald B. "Jerry" Fredlund, 76, of Sebastian, Fla., died May 15 after a short illness.
After graduating from New Milford High School, Mr. Fredlund joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1954, where he attained the rank of sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1957.
Mr. Fredlund worked as a lineman and installer for Southern New England Telephone Co. and retired in 1987 after more than 30 years with the company.
He was a dedicated member of the Free and Accepted Masons for more than 50 years, twice serving as grand master of St. Peter's Lodge in New Milford, and more recently, as a member of the Masonic Lodge in Sebastian.
Mr. Fredlund was also an active member of the Shriners, including, after his retirement, the Azan Shriners Center in Melbourne, Fla.
An avid motorcyclist, he was a fixture on the roads of Connecticut and Florida well into his 70s.
Mr. Fredlund enjoyed country music, dancing and bowling.
He was a caregiver to a number of friends and family members in their senior years. His humor and heart made him a friend to many.
Mr. Fredlund is survived by three children, April Daryanani, Christal Preszler and Catherine Ferris; two sons-in-law, Raj Daryanani and Todd Preszler; four grandchildren, Petra Daryanani, and Julia, Scott and Nick Preszler; a brother, Gene Fredlund, and Gene's children, Gene Jr., and Cindy; two grandnieces; and his dear friend, Evelyn Ricard.
A ceremony will take place at Arlington (Va.) National Cemetery later in the year.
