Gearing up for school, courtesy of the United Way

Bolstered by donations from numerous Greater New Milford-area businesses and individuals, the United Way of Western Connecticut once again was able to assist numerous local youths get better prepared for the 2012-13 school year.

The 20th annual Back to School clothing drive climaxed Aug. 17 as United Way staff and teen volunteers helped patrons from Bridgewater, Kent, New Milford, Roxbury, Sherman, Warren and Washington receive new clothes and such items as sneakers, winter coats, backpacks, school supplies and personal care items.

Sponsors were able to sign up to clothe an entire child, join a group of individuals sponsoring a child or just donate to the program.
