The Friends of Warren School will present its first annual trivia night fundraiser Feb. 25 in Bantam.

The event, which will be held at Bantam firehouse, will run from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

The event will feature lively competition and will help raise funds needed to rejuvenate the school playground.

Warren has a rich and storied history of schools and once boasted the most schools in Connecticut.

Today the school educates just over 80 students.

Because it is a small school, it runs on a small budget that rarely has room for additional items like playgrounds.

Unfortunately, the oldest climbing structure at the school, which is one of the most favored of the children, is no longer safe to play on.

It will be removed soon.

With that structure gone, it leaves a gaping hole.

Beyond losing a piece of equipment, the playground is in need of updating, especially now that the school has brought in preschool to the building.

The Friends of Warren School are trying to help rejuvenate the playground.

The cost to participate in trivia night is $15 at the door for each team member; teams should have a minimum of four players and a maximum of six people.

Registration can be done by emailing friendswarren@gmail.com.

Pre-registration is strongly encouraged, but teams may register at the door the evening of competition.

Refreshments will be offered and a dessert bar will be open at intermission.

Attendees are invited to bring their own beverages.

A silent auction will be offered, and a wine raffle will be held.

Each participant will be given one entry per bottle.

Childcare is offered at Sparkle and Shine Dance.
