The Kent Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual Firemen's Fair Aug. 23 to 25 at the fairgrounds on Route 7.

The fair will be open Aug. 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. and Aug. 24 and 25 from 6 to 11 p.m.

Will Gawel, fair chairman, said there are some changes this year. "We've eliminated the admission cost and we hope that draws more people to attend," he said.

Returning features will include amusement rides, a cake booth, games, music, bingo, a frog-jumping contest Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. and a firemen's parade Aug. 24 at 6:45 p.m.

T-shirts of the department's new pumper will be available for purchase.

Those interested in baking a cake for the cake booth, have questions or need a cake to be picked up are asked to call JoAnn Gleason Whitmore at 860-927-4378.

Baked goods may be delivered to the cake booth anytime during the fair.

Bracelets for rides will be sold for $20 at the ticket booth each night.
