The Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the annual Festival of Lights / Tree Lighting Ceremony on the Village Green Nov. 29 at 5:30 p.m.

Highlights of the evening will include the lighting of the Christmas trees on the green, a parade of lights, courtesy of local volunteer fire departments, and visits with Santa.

The trees are put up annually by the United Methodist Men of the New Milford United Methodist Church.

This year marks the 48th anniversary of the trees on the green.

Nov. 29 is also Small Business Saturday.

Residents are encouraged to visit downtown shops prior to the ceremony.

In addition, the New Milford Historical Society and Museum will hold an open house that day from 4 to 7 p.m. -- before, during and after the trees are lighted.

Hot mulled cider, donuts and coffee will be served at the 6 Aspetuck Ave. museum.
