New Milford's traditional Festival of Lights proved a time for adventure Saturday for many area children, who were seen dashing amongst the lighted Christmas trees on the Village Green, often posing for photos by their parents. Hundreds of Greater New Milford-area folks shared the experience recently as New Milford's Village Green assumed its traditional holiday season aura.

The magic began Nov. 24 as the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Festival of Lights.

The highlight of the evening was the lighting of the Christmas trees and a parade of lights, courtesy of local volunteer fire departments.

The trees were put up by the United Methodist Men of the New Milford United Methodist Church. This marks the 46th year the trees have brightened the New Milford Village Green during the holidays.

In addition to the lighting of the trees, Festival of Lights activities included visits with Santa Claus and a Christmas karaoke sing-along.
