(Editor's Note: The following is a challenge from the Moots Pellegrini law firm in New Milford to join in the fundraising effort to enable restoration of the Boardman Bridge in town.)

My partner, Lon Moots, and I and our firm are pleased to contribute $1,000 to the restoration of Boardman Bridge project being spearheaded by the New Milford Trust for Historic Preservation.

Lon and I both came to New Milford in 1969. At that time, the bridge was still operational, and traveling over it was a fun experience.

As the years passed, it saddened us to see the bridge slip into disrepair.

Art Cummings of The Spectrum, Rob Burkhart of the Trust and I, among others, have been vocal over our concern for the bridge and its preservation.

Many op eds and editorials have been written over the years in hopes of starting a movement to save the bridge.

Some of us started to meet and create a committee to move the ball forward. I believe we now have some momentum.

We would like to issue a challenge to the New Milford professional and business communities to join Moots, Pellegrini and match, or exceed, our contribution.

We believe the bridge is an asset that could have a positive impact on the community and its economy.

We hope you will step up and help.

We are forming a 501(C)(3) nonprofit but, until then, contributions can be made c/o Mayor Pat Murphy's office, 10 Main Street, New Milford, CT 06776.
