To the Editor:
On behalf of the New Milford Parks and Recreation Department, we would like to thank all of those involved with the 49th annual 8-Mile and 14th annual 5K road races.
These events were held July 30 with over 540 registered runners.
The tremendous support from our wonderful community, along with the hard-working staff at Parks and Recreation, is the reason we are able to continue to offer elite and recreational runners the opportunity to compete against their peers on New Milford’s beautiful country roads.
We would like to “warm-up” by thanking the hundreds of runners, many of whom have faithfully returned each year, for making the races this year so successful.
We certainly admire your determination to conquer these challenging courses and are inspired by your successes.
We would like to thank the entire staff at the Parks and Recreation Department, the department’s maintenance staff, the Public Works Department, the New Milford Police Department, the New Milford Community Emergency Response Team and New Milford Ambulance for providing a well-organized and safe event.
Of course, the race would not be possible without our many sponsors.
Many thanks also to our other financial sponsors which include Candlewood Valley Pediatrics, BRACES — Dr. Phillips, Full Circle Promos, Bank Street Theater, Richard T Layton Co., Dental Associates of Connecticut, MEDInstill, Cramer & Anderson, Alpenhaus and Candlewood Valley Motors.
We would also like to thank the following businesses for their valuable contributions: Road ID, Wal-Mart, Big Y, Triple Springs Water, Kimberly Clark Corp., Stop and Shop, Northville Market, H. & H. Taylor & Son, Costco, Stew Leonard’s, New Milford Sports Club, BJ’s Wholesale, the Cookhouse, the Children’s Movement Center, Northville Market, National Peanut Board and GU energy.
As always, the pre-race and race publicity provided by the Greater New Milford Spectrum provides tremendous coverage.
Thanks to the volunteers from the New Milford High School swim team and to our many, many volunteers who have given generously of their time and effort at registration, the finish line, refreshments, water stops, timing, split times, entertainment and traffic and safety, our heartfelt thanks.
As we approach the “finish line,” we want to once again express our heartfelt thanks to all of you who made race day so successful.
See you all on July 29, 2017, for our 50th anniversary!
