Ex-Spartan soccer coach to be honored

An awards ceremony honoring former Shepaug Valley High School boys' soccer coach Art Crabtree and other state coaches will be held May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Southington.

Coach Crabtree was chosen by the Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) "Outstanding Coach of the Year" following his retirement soon after the 2008 season.

He will be among those feted at the CHSCA's annual recognition dinner.

Those interested in attending may purchase a ticket at $45 by sending a check payable SVHS Fund to Matt Perachi, Athletic Director, Shepaug Valley High School, 159 South Street, Washington, CT 06793.

Checks must be received by March 1.
