Jazzercise in New Milford is getting jazzed up.

Jazzercise instructor Christine Oberc is taking over ownership and will add nine Jazzercise dance-fitness classes the week of Jan. 1.

The new classes will accommodate new participants and provide current participants with a greater choice of convenient class times.

The new classes will be Mondays through Fridays at 5:30 p.m., Mondays at 6:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. at the Connecticut Sports Arena along Still River Drive.

"I'm excited about the growth of Jazzercise locally," Mrs. Oberc said.

"Jazzercise offers a unique blend of fitness and jazz dance that New Milford residents have discovered is a lot of fun," she said.

"The new classes will just make it easier for participants to enjoy a workout where and when it's convenient for them," Mrs. Oberc added.

The 60-minute Jazzercise class includes a warm-up, high-energy aerobic routines, muscle-toning and cool-down stretch segment.

Jazzercise combines elements of dance, resistance training, Pilates, yoga, kick-boxing and more to create programs for people of every age and fitness level.

An alternative format includes Jazzercise body sculpting Mondays at 6:30 p.m.

Mrs. Oberc is a former Radio City Rockette and professional dancer/teacher in New York City.
