The sixth annual New Milford Fire Prevention & Safety Day will be held Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Home Depot on Route 7.

This year's theme is "Prevent Kitchen Fires."

Offerings will a LifeStar landing at 10 a.m., and visit for about an hour; an acceleration detection K9 demonstration at the burn building at 10:45 a.m.; a live burn demonstration with the three fire departments at 11 a.m.; a vehicle extrication scenario with the fire departments following the live burn; and a hazardous chemical incident demonstration with the Connecticut Department Energy & Environmental Protection at noon

Patrons may view vehicles and equipment from the New Milford Police Department, New Milford Community Ambulance, New Milford CERT, the Candlewood Lake Authority, the Connecticut DEEP marine unit, fire departments, fire investigation unit, the DEEP emergency response unit throughout the day.

In addition, children may visit the kids safety trailer, build a fire truck at a Home Depot workshop.
