Ethel Burch, 85, was a New Milford native

She and her husband lived in New Milford throughout their 60-plus years of marriage, and raised their five children there.
Along with being a devoted wife and mother, she worked at various jobs throughout her life. She retired from her own business, which had been her lifelong dream, New Milford Fabrics.
Along with sewing and crafting, she enjoyed gardening and holiday decorating.
She is survived by her four sons, Allen Jr. and his wife, Arlene; Duane and his wife, Sandra; Greg and his wife, Mia; Jeff and his wife, Dorene; her daughter, Donna, and her husband, Edward deFriesse; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, David, Robert, Lawrence and Richard; two sisters, Alice and Janetta; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by seven brothers, Clifford, Chester, Ivan, Nellis, Douglas, Lester and Kenneth.
The family will receive friends June 28 from 11 a.m. to noon at the Brookfield Funeral Home, 786 Federal Road, Brookfield. A celebration of life will be held at noon, where friends and family are invited to share their memories of Ethel.
Burial will follow at Center Cemetery in New Milford.
